At Yorkshire Podcast Studios we are very proud to be situated in the heart of a great county. Whether you are from Yorkshire, reside here, drink Yorkshire Tea, like a Yorkshire pudding, or watched five minutes of Emmerdale once, we wish you a very enjoyable day.
Yorkshire Day is an annual celebration that takes place on 1 August to honour the historic county. The day is an opportunity to showcase pride in the region's rich cultural heritage, traditions, and contributions to society.
The origins of Yorkshire Day date back to 1975 when the Yorkshire Ridings Society, a non-political organisation, initiated the event. Various activities are organised across Yorkshire, ranging from parades and concerts to local fairs and traditional games. People often dress in traditional Yorkshire attire, such as flat caps and Yorkshire white roses, to display their regional identity.
Many expatriates and admirers of the county worldwide participate in commemorating Yorkshire's distinctiveness. Overall, Yorkshire Day stands as a symbol of unity, commemorating the county's past, celebrating its present, and looking forward to a vibrant and prosperous future.
